We are funded entirely by voluntary donations and grants, and fundraising. One of the founding principles of DdEF was to unite all Ddeaf people. To do this, communication support (speech to text, BSL interpreter, induction loop) is provided at all our meetings and events. This is essential to ensure that all Ddeaf people are able to fully participate – but it is also very expensive. Communication support for just one meeting costs £100+.
We welcome donations of any amount to support our work in empowering Ddeaf people.
- Up to £1 would pay for training course publicity material/programme for one Ddeaf person
- Up to £10 would pay for course materials which will enable a Ddeaf person to receive and retain a record of key points and useful contacts, or for travel expenses for Ddeaf people on a low income to attend our events
- Up to £50 would pay for a BSL (British Sign Language) interpreter for 1 hour at training events which would enable a Ddeaf person to participate fully in the course.
- Up to £100 would pay for a speech to text operator to transcribe what is being to enable a deaf person who does not use sign language to participate.
